jock123Ahem, jock. In case you wonder who brought on the topic (or to be more exact, who asked you on twitter), let me tell you then, it's me. I was going to make an argument on this thread, since I was worried that reading the book might never bring enough justification for my argument. Seeing that, later many people (just jock and mct, actually) had given argument, I felt that it was rather unnecessary again for me to give mine. Besides, my argument would be just the same with either argument from them.

As mct16 explains, there are plenty of things (actually more things) in this and other books which can construct a fair indication that Haddock is indeed the owner.
I definitely agree, and these things aren't delusional or having the same sense with this following quote
if we would see our appartment exploded, we, too, would say "oh my lovely apartment !" ...eventhough we'd be plain rentees, wouldn't we ?
The implication that Haddock is the owner of Marlinspike Hall definitely is not a weak one (although like jock said, not a necessarily
very strong one), and it is just agreeable if you take this as a valid point on thinking that Haddock is the owner. While paying for Marlinspike Hall can make Calculus the righteous owner, seen from financial terms, it is never shown either implicitly or explicitly in any album that Calculus had such proof for this (say, the legal documents concerning Marlinspike Hall after the purchase). Just like what I've got from jock, Marlinspike Hall can be either owned by Calculus or Haddock, but not strictly either of them.

MezzCalculus:
The fact that he said : "we're gonna buy..." means, of course, that he's gonna buy it.
I think that this possibly means that you don’t grasp the nuance of the English - that clearly implies a joint enterprise.
We are we, and he is he, you can't mean we as he, if you do it's a logical fallacy!
Anyway MezzCalculus, I am not sure whether if you are just being capricious (joking 'round), or if you are very serious about this, but considering other people's perception, thought and feeling, I have a suggestion for you. Could you please tone down your post (your language and attitude in your post) just a bit? I suppose you are highly excited, but just in case, some people might mistake your excitement as rudeness.
