Perhaps somebody with a French colour edition of Les Cigares Du Pharaon could tell us whether the news clipping appears there?

This clipping was never modified and just matches the drawings: it tells only about Rastapopoulos' fall down the cliff.
And the clipping's picture shows the Thompsons falling downstairs.

Good point, but as long we have to guess that Hergé approved of the adaptions of the translations, we know that he actually made those graphical changes.

Moderator Note: We also cannot know what the translators were provided with to work from: it's supposition that it was Michael Turner and Leslie Lonsdale-Cooper, and not Casterman or Studios Hergé, who made changes, and they were adopted by the English and German translators, for example.
