Of course you've never heard of THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND! And you know why? Because it doesn't freaking exist! I smite my forehead for absent-mindedness! Tintinologist indeed!

I meant THE SHOOTING STAR.

(Note to other readers: Just so no one thinks Peveus delusional -- or me enabling, come to think of it -- I corrected the reference in my previous post.)

Just for information in France since a few months 3 DVD boxes are 49.99 euros each, each containing 6 DVD Tintin adventures...

So for about 150 euros you get 18 adventures in 3 'luxury' boxes
missing AMERICA, BROCKEN EAR and SHOOTING STAR...

For about half that price (9.99 euros per DVD) you can still get 2 or 3 Tintin adventures per DVD, a special offer that is soon going to end up, but that shows all 21 cartoons...

How does this release compare to the VCDs. I have the complete set from Appletree in Singapore that I bought off E-bay a few years ago (individual tins). My complaint with the VCDs is that the image gets blurry during action scenes (but the inherent in VCDs).

Well "this release" is potentially confusing, as we're discussing various DVD releases ...

... but as I also own a VCD set, the DVDs are superior, for all the technical reasons that make DVDs a superior medium. Resolution is shaper, color is more vibrant, there's no discernable pixillation, loss of fluidity or ghost imagery in action sequences -- plus you can switch off subtitles, choose alternate language soundtracks and navigate in section incremets thanks to chapter/track markers.

Just checked the Amazon.ca best sellers and Tintin is listed at 28! I wonder how high it will go?

Well I know I keep mentioning this but DVD Soon have reduced their prices further!

The single disks are down to $8.46 CAD which works out at £3.60 ish a disk

Just had a look on Amazon.ca and it looks like the remaining 5 Disks are being released in Canada on October 5th.

I just got the 2nd half of the box set from Il Etait une fois!

http://www.iletaitunefois.qc.ca/homepage/

However, as mentioned on this thread, there's no Tin Tin in America on it! Do you guys know where I can buy a DVD with that episode on it?

Also, I too was annoyed by the lack of order. To watch the DVDs in the correct order, this is the correct order (see below). "8.1" means disk 8, episode one. "3.2" means disk 3 episode 2. If you look below, it's clear that the episodes are very much out of order, AND that you need both "box set vol. 1" and "box set vol. 2" before you can watch them in order!

(missing) Tintin in America
8.1 Cigars of the Pharaoh
7.1 Blue Lotus
5.2 The Broken Ear
3.1 The Black Island
3.2 King Ottokar's Sceptre
6.2 The Crab with the Golden Claws
5.1 The Shooting Star
9.1 The Secret of the Unicorn
9.2 Red Rackham's Treasure
4.1 The Seven Crystal Balls
4.2 Prisoners of the Sun
2.1 Land of Black Gold
1.1 Destination Moon
1.2 Explorers on the Moon
7.2 The Calculus Affair
8.2 The Red Sea Sharks
6.2 Tintin in Tibet
10.1 The Castafiore Emerald
2.2 Flight 714
10.2 Tintin and the Picaros

Is the second DVD box set only in English? I really would like to buy it. The Amazon one seems to only be in English. Hmmm...
