Seeking original version of song 'Changes'

Is anyone here familiar with the song 'Changes' by 2Paq (goes 'things will never be the same etc).
I know there was an original version of this. Does anyone know the band's name and what the song was called (if it was named differently)?

I think it's a loose cover version of Bruce Hornsby and the Range's The Way It Is from 1986. The chorus goes :

Thatâ€™s just the way it is
Some things will never change
Thatâ€™s just the way it is
But donâ€™t you believe them?

Is that the one you mean ?
