We must with sadness report the loss of another valuable member of Hergé's circle of artists.

Michel Demarets, long-term member of the team at Studios Hergé, died at Pepinster, Belgium, on the 1st of October 2014, at the age of 79.
He studied at night-school in Veviers with Roger Leloup, before joining the Studios in 1954 to assist Jacques Martin, who recognized his talents, where he specialized in the drawing of vehicles for the Voir et Savoir section of the Journal Tintin, as well as vehicles, and background scenery and objects for the albums.

He went on to be responsible for several other Tintin-themed projects, such as designing the six pop-up books, and the two game books Jouons avec Tintin à Moulinsart, and Jouons avec Tintin en Syldavie (published in English as an omnibus volume as The Tintin Games Book).

He stayed with the team up until the closure of the studios and the establishment of the Fondation Hergé, after which he worked with Jacques Martin again, producing work for the Alix series.

Our condolences go out to those who knew him.
