Is halloween celabrated in other countries?

I know must countries have their own version of Halloween, like Mexico's Day of the dead, China's Feast of the hungry ghosts, and Japan's Obon festival, but do any other countries celabrate Halloween as we do here in the U.S.?

If not, would Tintin would be uttuly clueless if he returnd to America during Halloween?

Yes, Halloween (or even "Hallowe'en") is celebrated in Europe, and actually was exported to America from there. You'll find some discussion of it in this thread.

What happened more in America was its becoming a commercialized event, with stuff for sale in shops.

When I was a child (back in the days when everything was in black-and-white, everyone wore spats, and you could ride in a Zeppelin for thrupence ha'penny...) you made all the stuff for Hallowe'en at home.

Now of course the commercial juggernauts have cottoned on, and you see some American-style Hallowe'en stuff for sale here too.

However, do you have trick-or-treating and dressing up in Europe too?
Basically, do you celebrate Halloween pretty much the same way (just not as commercialized) as here in America?

The other thread covers topics such as guising (dressing up) and "mischievious night" - the elements you have came from Europe with the settlers.
You probably ended up with a more elaborate form of it because obviously you had a greater mixing of traditions as people came from all over Europe, whereas back here the traditions stayed regional.
