ooh a hard one... a good mixture in here i think (i'll end up leaving some out no doubt), so something for everyone to appreciate.

in NO particular order other than what comes to mind first (so they're all number 1):

01: The Haunting (1963) (Robert Wise)
01: Don't Look Now (Nicolas Roeg)
01: Citizen Kane (Welles)
01: The Third Man (Carol Reed)
01: Dead Mans Shoes (Shane Meadows)
01: Brazil (Gilliam)
01: Lawrence of Arabia (Lean)
01: Akira (Katsuhiro Otomo)
01: Irreversible (Gaspar Noe)
01: The Thing (1982) (Carpenter)
01: Rosemary's Baby (Polanski)
01: Audition (Takashi Miike)
01: American Werewolf in London (Landis)
01: Dawn Of The Dead (Romero)
01: Seven Samurai (Akira Kurosawa)
01: Wolf Creek (Greg McLean)
01: Stalker (Tarkovsky)
01: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Gilliam)
01: Whistle and I'll Come to You (Jonathan Miller)
01: The Brood (Cronenberg)
01: Blade Runner (Ridley Scott)
01: Indiana Jones Trilogy (Spielberg)
01: Alice in Wonderland (Disney) (Clyde Geronimi)

Aargh OK so that's actually 23 but with so many kinds of film and so many great films it is actually impossible for me to reduce this list down to ten - none of these films should NOT be in my top movies list. And I've still got 200 to go on my screen select account.

So what we have here is a list of 23 (well... 25) PERFECT films in my eyes. We have some classic horror, British and American, we have some eastern horror, some Russian cinema, some french cinema, some anime, some film noir, some cronenberg, some gilliam, some david lean, some Welles, some defining films from long ago, some cracking new pieces of cinema aaand... Disney and Spielberg ;) so like i said something for everyone.

can't beat that list i reckon. until touch of evil comes through the post or something, heh.

just in case you hadn't noticed i love making lists. it comes of being a record and film collector, and an ex collector of everything as a kid :/

i saw battleship potemkin on a large screen in trafalger square with a live soundtrack by the petshop boys (sounds awful but they did their dark techno stuff rather than their irritating poppy stuff). it was very good, but we were a bit sloshed, and people were a tad confused at my mate raving to the rather shocking scene near the end. but then he'll rave to anything.

i used to go and watch a silent movie every few months at the queen elizabeth theater i think it was, with a live orchestra. some were fantastic and certain images have left an impact on me, but it was so long ago i'd struggle to remember their names.

four horsemen is good... intolerance also.

must say your taste in film is better than your taste in games ;)

I agree with Martin and Number1fan. Duck Soup is a great film. I like Most Marx Brothers, so on my list I will include several.
Not in order:
1. Duck Soup
2. Go West (Another Marx brothers film)
3. A Night at the opera (Marx)
4. Horse feathers(Marx)
5. At the Circus (Marx again, Ha Ha)
6. The Big Store (Marx!)
7. The Incredibles (It's not Marx!)
8.Shrek
9.Star Trek: Generations
10. Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home

And now my least favorite movie, which I saw last week on an airplane. this movie is full of pointless killings, all committed by the "Hero" who GETS AWAY at the end: This movie is Shooter.
