We could in fact say that Tintin was born "twice over" in the pages of Le Petit "Vingtieme".

His "first" 80th anniversary falls on 4th January, day of the advertisement - illustrated with a single vignette - which announces his forthcoming appearance in the issue of the 10th.

I shall be celebrating both birthdays and I hope that others will join me too !

Well today is my birthday, I'm celebrating with a few drinks... I'm sure I could do the same on the 4th!

And the 10th! Hmm, sounding like Haddock now.(so when's his 'birthday')... :-)

I think I'll dedicate the 10th to watching ALL the Tintin episodes, including the animated film(s) and reading all the books I have so far.

If memory serves me correctly, Haddock's "birthday" straddles the divide 31st December 1940/1st January 1941. This date marks his first appearance in Le Soir Jeunesse.

He has in effect just celebrated his 68th birthday !

It would be worth tabulating the first public appearances of all of the major characters so as to allow for an extended cycle of celebrations...

I'm surprised to find that Haddock is so much younger than Tintin!

How do you think Tintin'd spend his 80th? Would he still be adventuring... or maybe he's finally retired :)

Don't forget this is NOT just Tintin's birthday - Snowy will be 80x6 = 480 in doggie years!. Maybe just keep him 80 too: he's too cute and smart to be so much older than the human Tintin. He has been encouraging us a long time to be kinder to all God's creatures. Happy birthday Snowy and Tintin.
