hello
i just went through web.telia.com and am pretty impressed. the webmaster sure has done a marvellous job collecting all information regarding the stageplays. from the websitie i understand that the original script of the two plays still exist, albeit in french somewhere.
so why isnt someone translating the same to english, or better why doesnt moulinsart themselves translate the same to english and be sold as dramas. these are original tintin works by herge himself, and moulinsart being the copyright holder of herge has a duty cast upon them to do the needful and publsih them for a whole new generation to enjoy. wow, wouldnt it be wonderful- a tintin drama in print 64 years after it had been first performed. wonder if any of the caste members are still alive???

An update
i wrote to Moulinsart seeking the information on and vibailty of republishing BLUE ORANGES, GOLDFEN FLEECE and bringing into print MYSTERY OF THE BLUE DIAMOND and MR. BOULLOCK'S DISAPPEARANCE. and the reply was positive- it seems moulinsart is seriously considering republishing/ publishing the same- (if i am not reading too much into the reply they sent to my mail)
cant wait to read 'em

I would like to know if we over here at Tintinolgist can exercise some sort of influence and bring to print the 3 Tintin stageplays. I am most interested in reading Tintin aux Indes - Le Mystére du Diamant Bleu (Tintin in India - The Mystery of the Blue Diamond) and M. Boullock a disparu (The disappearance of Mr Boullock).I would also like to read DUPONT ET DUPOND, DÉTECTIVES (Thompson and Thomson Detectives)- In the gap between the episodes Red Rackham's Treasure and The Seven Crystal Balls (September 24 - November 12 1943), Le Soir presented this story with the Thompsons on their own. Published in 40 daily episodes - not comic strips - it was written by Paul Kinnet and illustrated by Hergé.
The above are not pastiches but regular works written by Herge himself.
Hope someone over here at Tintinologist can exercise influence in bringing to print these lost classics.

Likewise can anyone give me details of the Tintin stage play – TINTIN IN TIBET presented in 2007. I have not seen the drama- and would like to read the script of the drama.
Regards,
Narayan

I fount something on the internet about this years ago.Long before becoming a tintinologist on this site.I wonder if the actualy script exsists somewhere would be fascinating to see.I presume it being in the 40's it wouldnt have been recorded. There may be a copy of it out there somewhere if its from the 70's but i doubt it (even though when we doubt it allways happens).Maybe in a few years the play could be reserected with the popularity of the film.

Yes, the scripts exist - the post from Advnaryan at the top of the page says as much, and it is confirmed in his second post in which he spoke to Moulinsart.

There are more than likely copies in Hergé's archive, possibly with the theatre companies involved, with a theatrical publisher who would be responsible for the assigning of permissions if the plays were to be remounted, and maybe even in a national library if the copyright system is similar to the U.K. - so there is little reason to worry on that score!

I seem to recall an extract from the playscripts in one of those leather-bound Rombaldi volumes from the 1980s, but I couldn't tell you which one. Also - and I may have this wrong, but my notes seem to support it - a copy of the Blue Diamond script was on display at the Pompidou Centre's Hergé retrospective in 2007.

So Mr. Richard, and Jock 123
I knopw that you are not regular members....i understand that you are scholars on Tintin (and I beleive) persons who can make do things by Moulinsart. So can you and we start a movement for bringing into print the 3 stage plays. it would be great...and possibly the only way I can read it- being here in Inda. thanx guys.

I can't speak for Richard, but unfortunately I am only a regular member, and don't have any inside track at Moulinsart.

I'm also uncertain of "movements" - I think that on the whole, they seem to be as likely to irritate and have their object refuse to do something, as they are to be successful.

However, if I can think of anyone to approach, I will do so...

Both the stage plays together would make a nice volume, perhaps presented in the style of a regular Tintin book, especially if there was enough visual material (photos of the play, promotional material, etc) to pad it out. M. Boullock a disparu sounds fairly interesting; they travel to Morocco, Chile, Shanghai and even Tibet. From what I can gather though it all seems a bit knockabout. Something that might work well in a stage play for 1940s children as a respite from the War might not read too well today. And, as a specialist volume, it's probably quite low on the priorities list for Moulinsart I expect.

Incidentally, if they ever were to translate them to English I was hoping they could... er... make a name change. How about The Search For Mr McPollock? :-)

With apologies for reopening this thread. but is there any further information on the stageplays of Tintin? i read today the book ADVENTURES OF HERGE- and there is a mention of the stageplays therein.
sure would love to have Moulinsart publish the same as a book.
