Joseph F. Loeckx (now known under his pen-name of Jo-El Azara, and the creator of BD characters Clifton and Taka Takata), who was an assistant to Hergé at the studios throughout the Fifties, and also partner to the late Josette Baujot, has made an appearance at a comics festival in Gruissan, France.

There is an interview with him here, where he talks about how he got the job, and the books he worked on.

Considering that, according to Lambiek, he'd already worked for Willy Vandersteen by the time he went to Hergé at the age of seventeen and still a student, he must have been a precocious talent!

Tiny correction: Clifton was created by Macherot and Azara only contributed one episode.
