Land of Black Gold: Pixar movie "Cars 2" plot similarities?

Hello,
I recently saw Cars 2 on DVD and, although I don't wish to post any spoilers for those who may want to watch it, the key point of the plot is very similar to Land of Black Gold.

I wonder if it was actually inspired by Tintin or just a remarkable coincidence?

Possibly! Tintin has inspired many movies old and modern (take a look at Indiana Jones).

Hmm, that's very interesting. I have yet to watch that movie, (animated movies never really stick with me) but might now, after hearing this.
