Sorry if this is short notice for you to start saving those hundreds and thousands of Euros, but there is a sale of comic art at the Christies auction house in Paris on Saturday (the 5th of April 2014).

The catalogue is available for on-line viewing or as a PDF here.

Amongst the lots are several very nice Hergé items:
Pencils for page 54 of Tintin in Tibet;
the 1947 self-portrait showing Hergé menaced by Tintin waving a cat-o'-nine-tails from the magazine(note the pages of Prisoners of the Sun on his desk if you look at the catalogue);
the ink line art for a Tintin card showing him in a propeller-driven snow-mobile with Snowy, delivering a Christmas tree;
two individual frames, one of Haddock and Tintin from Seven Crystal Balls and another of Tintin and Zorrino from Prisoners of the Sun;
and last but not least, the illustration of Tintin with the Maharajah of Padakhore from the publicity for Tintin in India: The Mystery of the Blue Diamond which appeared in Le Soir Jeunesse, on the 17th of April 1941 (as mentioned here).

And the results (I wonder if any of the lucky buyers are amongst our members?):

Tintin in Tibet pencils: €289,500
Hergé self-portrait with Tintin: €91,500
Tintin and Snowy Christmas card design: €85,500
Tintin with the Maharajah of Padakhore: No price given (presumably didn't sell
Tintin and Haddock Seven Crystal Balls frame: €16,250
Tintin and Zorrino frame from Prisoners of the Sun: €12,500

Still think that the Tintin in India advert illustration was a little gem!
