The Secret of 'The Unicorn': Why is Snowy scratching?

In the flea market scene in The Secret of 'The Unicorn', Snowy (or Bobbie as he's called in my Dutch version) is scratching himself in every frame he's in.
Why is that?
There's no reference to it in the caption dialogue.

Because he's picked up some fleas at the flea market! :)

Oh my goodness!

See, that's why I love these forums... I've read that book more than twenty or thirty times, and not only have I never noticed that 'Bobbie' was scratching, I would have never put this 2 and 2 together.

That Hergé was pretty clever!
