Hi,
when I am trying to buy Cigars of Pharaoh from Amazon, it's flashing a message that this is an album. Curious to know the difference between an album and a paperback/hardcover. Apologies if the query sounds too novice to seasoned members.

I'm not sure what you are seeing, or what version of the book you are looking at, so it's hard to tell if Amazon is using some site-specific meaning of the term, but it sounds unusual.

"Album" is usually used as a synonym for "book" - adopted from its use on the continent, it probably arises from the fact that it brings together a collection of comic-strips which originally appeared in serial form.

So an album could be either hard- or paper-back.

It might be flagging it up so that you know you aren't buying the video/ DVD of the Ellipse-Nelvana series?

Might they also make a distinction between the "normal" book series and some other format, such as the Young Reader editions?


No need to worry about that! Everybody has to start somewhere, and you probably have some piece of information at your finger-tips which other members don't yet know! :-)
