Here's a long review of three versions of Tintin in America at The Comics Journal.

Thrice Upon A Time in Tintin's America

So long, in fact, that I got a little lost with some of the details being made, but the broad sweep of the review is pretty uncontentious.

Interesting article. I agree with a lot of its points, but I think it's points on why America 1 ( as it calls it in the book) isn't good are the very reasons why it's wonderful. Many of the other Tintin books are better, but in my opinion, Tintin in America's Looney-Tunesishness is what makes it so endearing. It's true there is no clear storyline, and you can see that Hergé had not really thought about where the story was going, for there are many stories in one book, and each has its own climax. All in all, I really love Tintin in America, despite it being naive, childish, and improbable.
