Who am I?

Though I appear only few times (in albums) and though I certainly don't play big role, I am a man of great importance.

In one frame I am smoking and a man on my right is giving hearty yawn and the man on my left is pointing something with his left hand. He has a pipe in his mouth. Something strange has happened.

So, who am I?

I think you may be Hergé in his cameo appearances.

Is the frame you're describing the big one in The Calculus Affair, when the sight-seeers have come to gawp at Marlinspike's broken windows?

Furthermore in the same very crowded frame you can see Jolyon Wagg explaning something to an elder couple.

And there is another frame (in another album) where I wear fancy green uniform and I am looking (disapproving?) towards Tintin. He is arrested and being taken away to the custody.

Who am I?

EDIT: You are correct Balthazar. I was giving new hints while you gave the right answer. :-)

You've got the ball.

Sorry for the delay in thinking of a new question. Here it is:

When Tintin is in 21 and Snowy is in 20A, who is in 20?

Without referring to the book, would the answer be Prof. Sophocles Sarcophagus? I think those were the numbers on the coffins at the Pharaoh's tomb in Cigars.

Yep, that's it. Quick work!

I love the way those coffins have numbers as well as name labels with dates. It's like a library cataloguing system of people they've bumped off and mummified.

Anyway, your turn.

Following up quickly on the numerical theme:

Tintin + Haddock + Calculus = 122
Thompson + Thomson = ?

This only relates to two specific books.
