Captain Haddock. I think he is the most-rounded person. When you look more closely at the other characters, they are actually quite bland, and each of them have trademark characteristics (like Calculus and his detachment from the rest of the world). The Captain, however, is more complex. He can switch from being tough-tempered to being ultimately kindhearted. He will change his emotions as conditions change, and his relationships with other people are more colorful...I heard that even Herge ultimately most closely associated with Captain Haddock.

Yes. I've often read comments to the effect that Archie is The Master's alter-ego.

Another fun character is Oliveira da Figueira. He seems to have everything! In "Cigars of the Pharaoh", he has every imaginable piece of paraphernalia from the Western world for sale to the sheiks. Furthermore, in "The Land of Black Gold" and in "The Red Sea Sharks", he seems to have all the links, access, and sometimes information that Tintin needs. A definite Mr. Ready-for-Anything!

Senor Oliveira da Figueira is my favourite character throughout the world of Tintin. Supporting chracters really are the best, IMO. My (very close) second favourte is General Alcazar.

I personally think that the reason the supporting characters are the best is because they are only supporting characters. If we knew them in as much depth as the main characters, I think that would take away the enjoyment of the more minor ones. Everything needs smaller characters!

Abdullah cracks me up every single time. Little brat. His relationship with the Captain is priceless.

Honourable mentions to Skut and Woolf for being a slightly more interesting villain-turned-sidekick and sidekick-turned-villain-turned-back-to-sidekick respectively...

And why do people not like Chang? Pah.

Arturo Benedetto Giovanni Guiseppe Pietro Archangelo Alfredo Cartoffoli da Milano.

He was solid!!!! I loved that. To be honest, we did something with that on WNHU Radio at one time, but they probably erased it from the MiniDisc.....

I've always been a Skut fan. There's not much info given about him, but from what is, he seems to be a good guy who was sucked into something bad, then repented and did the right thing regardless. The scene on the boat when they found him knocked unconscious really hit me as to what a true friend should be.

Tintin [of course] is my favourite character. The way he is always standing up for people is an excellent attitude as well as being smart and having a very original hair cut. Other favourites include Chang, Captain Haddock, Senhor Oliveri, Skut, and the Thom[p]sons.

Captain Haddock gets my vote.
Other favourites are the regular characters (Tintin [obviously], the Thom[p]sons and Calculus), Skut and Alcazar.

My favorite character? Well actually I have two (am I allowed?) obviously, as you can see in my user name, I really adore Snowy but how can I resist the delightful Professor Calculus?
