In the oeuvre, quite a few birch trees can be seen -white trunk with horizontal dark bands.
see http://mdslab.com/house/top-back/3%20Birch%20Trees%20Behind%20House_2. jpg

In which Southernmost country can we see a birch-like tree, in the books?
Please quote album, page and frame.

Ottokar, page 47 frame 1, is the only place in the oeuvre where birch trees are mentioned by name “if that fool Czarlitz had aimed at the clump of birch trees...”

Birch-like seems a bit vague...

Here comes the clue: That birch tree likely couldn't survive by itself where it's located, but still it looks similar to the other birch trees drawn in the books.

I believe it's in the garden of Müller/ Smith in Wadesdah, Land of Black Gold, page 46, frame 11. It's barely visible in the exterior behind Müller.
