I thought I'd give the quiz a kickstart with this easy poser...

Someone in the adventures quotes the first stanza of a poem by the American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

I'd like to know who quotes it and the book and page please.

I believe it's Longfellow's 1893 poem The Secret of the Sea, which is quoted by Haddock on page 32 of Red Rackham's Treasure:

Ah! what pleasant visions haunt me
As I gaze upon the sea!
All the old romantic legends,
All my dreams, come back to me.

Unless it's one of Longfellow's lesser-known works:

We're the jolly Jolly Follies
Hey nonny no
Hey nonno no

Well done Richard!
Herge's original text almost matches the forth stance of Le Lac, a poem by Lamartine:

Un soir, t'en souvient-il ? nous voguions en silence;
On n'entendait au loin, sur l'onde et sous les cieux,
Que le bruit des rameurs qui frappaient en cadence
Tes flots harmonieux.

Ahoy there Richard!

It is indeed quoted by Haddock on page 32 of Red Rackham's Treasure, just prior to almost providing a shark with a nice little snack.

And thanks also to yamilah for supplying us with the extra fascinating facts.

A hearty slap on the back, a slog of rum, and one more point to you!
