A statue was unveiled in Paris today of René Goscinny, who co-created Asterix, Iznogoud, Little Nicholas and also worked on Lucky Luke, among many others.

It is set near the building where he lived and the four characters mentioned above are included: Asterix in his hand, Nicholas on his shoulder, Iznogoud in his breast pocket and Lucky Luke at his feet. The pedestal is in the form of a bookcase.

It is the first time that comics have been honoured in this way in Paris. His daughter, Anne Goscinny, was there and also Jean-Jacques Sempé who illustrated the "Little Nicholas" books.
