Recently I went on Amazon and I saw a new Tintin book that I haven't seen before. I guessed it was a spoof (probably just some other bad one like Tintin in the new world) So I went back on to find it, but now I can't and it's driving me crazy! I cant even remember what it was called, but it definitely caught my attention. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

Thanks,
Gabe

Was it called Breaking Free?

It's got Tintin living on a London Council estate, and he instigates a communist revolution.

I have a copy, it's actually alright but not really a very Tintin adventure!

Yes that was it jockosjungle! Thanks so much. But why can't I find it on Amazon any more?
It wasn't there last time I checked.

I was surprised to see it on Amazon a while back, as presumeably it illegally infringes the copyright of Hergé and his estate. I'd guess that Moulinsart got wind of it being sold on Amazon and told them to stop selling it, in no uncertain terms! (And quite right too, in my opinion.) That's all just an uninformed but educated guess on my part, though.

I've never read it, but little bits I've seen on the web look quite badly drawn, as most Tintin pastiches tend to be.

It is still available on Amazon, but frankly it is a waste of time and money, from the point of view of its Tintin content. Keep your money and save towards some of the forthcoming books is what I’d say.

As to its being available at all, I don’t know if they have ever been stopped from publishing it, but they may be able to offer a defence of it as satire; the fact that the publishers are self-avowed political anarchists may also mean that they don’t care about the copyright situation…
