Anyone think that Tintin Action Figures will arrive with the movie?

For such a popular comic book for half a century, I'm pretty disappointed with the toys for Tintin. I'm sick of the un-articulated models and figurines. And I'm sick of those rare 12-inch dolls. And I'm sick of whatever expensive cost that comes along with the toys.

I want some decent action figure, less than 6 inches, with some articulation and accessories a la G.I. JOE or Marvel Legends or Star Wars figures. Anyone with me on this?

With the arrival of the movie, does anyone think that there will be toys, or even action figures, of our beloved Tintin characters at our local toy stores?

If that happened, I would be buying up everything, just like I was a fool to buy all that Star Wars Phantom Menace crap. I learned my lessson and stopped buying star wars toys after that first prequel. But if there were countless Tintin action figures, I would get them all.

If action figures are made just from the movie, and not individual comics, then the only action figures will probably be Tintin&Snowy, Haddock, Calculus, Thompson twins, and Rastapapolous. Good enough for me. I can live without an Alan figure, a Bianca figure, or a General Tapioca figure. It would be sweet if they did make them though!

But I agree with the action figures, they are dissapointing, maybe woth the movie they're going to sell more things.Maybe ToyBiz is going to do the action figures.

When I was at the press conference held by Moulinsart on May 21 in Brussels, I asked Nick Rodwell if they are planning "Happy Meal"-style toys/figures at the release of the movie. His answer was that the discussion about merchandise had not begun. Probably the decision also lies at Dreamworks instead of Moulinsart as they will have the rights for the movie. Nick Rodwell anyway thought that there would be some sort of new line of toys/figures to complement the film.

Mirirocks67, Are you trying to tell me that The Phantom Menace was not crap? I never said anything about the other star wars films. I find the originals great, but the prequels a bit sucky. I personally think that Attack of the Clones is the best and most balanced of the prequels. The Clone Wars cartoons kicks the ass out of the prequels. And no, Lord of the Rings are masterpiece books and films, much better than Harry Potter if you consider that the same fantasy medium.

Labrador Road, do you know what toy companies Dreamworks films usually works with? I hope it's hasbro. I'm afraid the figures will be like most of the other recent CGI-film figures - more like figurines with limited articulation than like action figures(Ratatouille, Shrek, Incredibles for example).

The positive thing about Tintin action figures is that they can market these figures in every country in the world, because the majority of the world knows/loves Tintin (except for USA). So it would be nice if they paid attention to quality with the figures.

I like all the Star Wars films, but I didn't consider bad the new trilogy.
And Lord of the Rings are wonderfull,in there I agree with you.
But please explain me why you think Harry Potter is bad.

Mirirock67,
I haven't been able to get through a book or one of those movies. I personally don't think the writing is that great. I'm sure Harry Potter is fabulous for many, but I was only using it as a Tintin analogy that there is nothing better than Tintin. There are books/movies better than the Harry Potter (i.e., Lord of the Rings, J.K. Rowling). My arguement is not that Harry Potter is bad - they are considered good (crap to me) - i'm just saying there is something better than the Potter books/movies, but not something better than Tintin.

Well, the Star Wars prequel video games...uh i mean movies... are decent children's movies, nothing more. George Lucas has no idea how to smoothly incorporate actors into green screen/CGI. He should watch Sin City and 300 to see how it's done well and smoothly.

I agree that the current figurines look too unprofessionally made and they are not worth the cost.

I hope that some professional toy making firm designs Tintin movie merchandise. And hopefully its promoted through "Happy Meals" ;) I am gonna rush for it...
