I've been doing my research and have found one site: https://www.bdoubliees.com/tintinbelge/annees/1966.htm in French that offers detailed information on the Tintin magazines.

There is also a seller on ebay who seems to be selling more recent editions (numbers 800-900)
I am a collector of comics and books, so when I saw the first issue in this series at a garage sale in Montreal, I instantly bought it.
I would like to find out how much it is worth though.
It's in pretty rough shape, but I've included a couple pictures here.
(links removed as they no longer work)
Thanks for looking,
Zac.

Hi Zac,
I’m not sure what you mean by “the first issue in this series”; the Tintin magazine was numbered 1 to 52 every year it was published, so this is the edition for the first week of January 1966, rather than the first issue ever. You can see that it is the 21st year of publication in the text below the blue box with Tintin’s head.
Looking at the contents on the website you point to there is no big strip (as far as I can tell - BD afficianados might say otherwise) such as a Tintin adventure, or Blake and Mortimer, which always seems to raise the value, nor is the cover by Hergé, another thing that can make these more desirable, so I’d have to say that unless the Tintin editorial is particularly interesting, then this is going to be a fairly run of the mill issue.
There will of course be other factors - it could be that this was a scarce issue due to delivery or printing problems (I pull that off the top of my head, because I remember it made an issue of the Radio Times with a big Doctor Who feature even more valuable in the UK when Scotland was one of the few regions to get it because of a strike).
That aside, I think that you are probably somewhere between £3 and £8, going by the odd copies I’ve bought from eBay; have a look somewhere like that, and watch for similar issues to get a feel for the price.

Thanks very much for your post Jock, I appreciate the clear information. I don't speak french so I didn't even really understand the site that I posted. I will likely keep it in my collection for now.
Zac.
