It's said there will only be three volumes in this series - two we have had, with one more to come, covering from 1948-1983. I hope this is a huge book. Should be coming up end of this year or 2011?

I can only imagine that it will have to wait for the final volume of the original Chronologie series to appear in French before they can issue the condensed-book version in English, so I wouldn't count on it any time soon.

Well the last two have come out fairly near enough, so I would expect it to come out in under two years.

The Chronologies have taken an age to come out and from what I heard the last one which was the 6th one is planning to have volumes through to 9.

That's the big issue - the contents of the Art of books are taken from the Chronologie series; the stuff that has made up the first two books appears in the Chronologies which are already out, which explains the speed with which they have been published. Until the main series is completed, I can't see the Art volumes being finished.

I would be surprised if there are 9 volumes, as the last one (Tome 6) covers Destination Moon, Explorers, Calculus Affair, and Red Sea Sharks; that leaves only four more albums plus the unfinished Alph-Art.

I would have thought one more volume should suffice. Although I don't actually know, just using logic.

In a recent interview - published in the Le Vif/ Express Hergé special issue of 2009 - Philippe Goddin implied that there might be an eighth volume after the seventh, containing photographs and various annexes.

So I'd imagine it would have to be after that that the next Art of will appear.

I'd heard that there had been various finds of material since the series began, which therefore had not been included in the earlier volumes; if this is what you mean by "annexes", that will be great!

Fantastic news! I've been waiting for awhile for this book. Since I can only read English and don't have the money needed for the French unabridged originals, this is the next best thing. Thanks for sharing.
