Hello all,

We have a statue of Captain Haddock which we are planning to auction off for charity. It's about four and a half feet tall and is of him walking with his hands behind his back and, of course,a pipe in his mouth. It has some paint scuffs and a couple of cracks to the face. I think it originally retailed at £2199 from Ottakar's the UK bookshop and has been our mascot since the shop became a Waterstone's a few years ago. I can't find another one like it online at all, or anything even similar so I thought I'd ask the experts.

Do any of you know of anything similar to this and, if so, how much it might fetch. We'd thought to put it on eBay so that it would reach the widest auction but someone also recommended putting it in to a toys and collectibles auction. I have no clue whether it would have gone up or down in value so any ideas you might have would be really appreciated, thank you!

Jess Sage.

I've uploaded an image now so you can see what I mean - any ideas as to what his worth might be before we put him up for auction for The Rainbow Trust would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jess.

I Magier in Strasbourg [a great Tintin shop] sell the item for 3150 Euros, in a new and boxed condition. So about £2800. Very expensive item!
