Fabric-covered Casterman Tintin Books (2000): Identification?

Hi all,

For a late Christmas present I received two Tintin books, Flight 714 and The Crab with the Golden Claws. These were styles I had not come across before. They were bought in Paris and have a fabric style cover. The inside of the cover is folded back as if it were a dust cover (very difficult to explain!) Before the story starts there are some interesting facts and large pictures, a kind of behind the scenes/ making of type thing.

The most interesting thing is that The Crab has been printed upside down so when opening the front cover you see the last page, upside down!!

Has anyone any knowledge of these publications or any experience of an upside down published Tintin book!!?

Thanks

My guess is that you may have a couple of the Archives Tintin volumes, published as a mail-order subscription offer through Atlas and Casterman.

Have a look at the Atlas site and see if this is the sort of thing you are talking about…?

As for the mis-printed book, they do turn up from time to time, but they tend to detract from the value, rather than increase it: it may be rare, but not in a way which people usually want or see as desirable.

Thanks for the info jock123. The books actually are not the Atlas ones you have linked to. I can't seem to find anything online to link to to show anyone what Im rambling on about! Is there anyway to add pictures to a post?

I really quite like my upside down book! It's a keeper for sure!
