Hello,

I found this forum a few days ago, and decided to join.

I'm in my late 30's (very late 30's), and have been a fan of Tintin since I was 7 or 8 (basically, since I could read). Apart from the collection of books, I also have many books about Tintin. I also have Tintin's silhouette, from the last image of Alph-Art, tatooed on my left arm.

My real name is Gilles, and I'm from Ottawa, Canada

I joined a few hours ago, my real name is Liz from England and I'm in my late teens.

I've enjoyed reading Tintin ocassionally from a young age but during the remaining years of my childhood I forgot sbout it. But after seeing Tintin in Tibet at the Young Vic in London for a school trip, I've rekindled my love (and crush) for Tintin. I've bought several of the books and plan to buy the Tintin DVD boxset soon =D.

Hello! I'm new here. My name is Cat, I'm from Scotland and I'm 14.
I became a Tintin fan after my younger brother had a major obsession with the books and he said I should read them. I've read nearly every comic book and I've seen every episode of the cartoon series. I'm working on a Tintin fanfiction [-snipped-].

Note to poster: Hi Cat, and welcome to the forums! Please remember not to mention web sites that offer unofficial Tintin related works in your posts. This will help keep Moulinsart's lawyers away. Thanks! :-)

Hi from Ottawa, Canada, everyone!

I'm 30 years old and have been reading Tintin since I was about 7, I guess.

I got my first Tintin albums in a WH Smith's in Brighton on a school trip to England, along with some Tintin postcards, back in 1994 (until then, I had to use the library, lol). Destination Moon and Explorers on the Moon were the ones, I think.

I'm now collecting the albums in English and French (it's much easier now because I live much closer to Quebec now than when I was growing up).

On a trip to France and Belgium last year, I made the point of getting a couple of albums in Dutch, even though I can't read the language. :)

I also like Asterix, and am branching out into Yoko Tsuno and Blake and Mortimer.

Beth

(My fiance's into Doctor Who for all you Who-vians out there :) )

Hello,

My name is Daniel, I'm from Queensland, Australia and I'm 23.

I began reading Tintin when I was a young kid of about 7. My local library had every copy and I used to hire them out all the time and read them over and over again. Even at that young age, I found the stories wildly entertaining and enjoyed losing myself in Tintin's many adventures.

Admittedly, I had not touched a Tintin book for many years until he popped into my head last week.

After mulling it over for about 2 seconds, I jumped online and purchased all 8 volumes of the 3-in-1 adventures. It set me back $300, but I have no regrets. Herge is a genius and I look forward to re-reading Tintin's incredible adventures!

My name is Eunice, and I am from Lares, Puerto Rico. I'm 34 years-old. I discovered Tintin back in the 90's with the Ellipse-Nelvana TV series. Since then I became a hard-core fan! I have the books, most of them in English, a few in Spanish (my first language) and others in French (which I learned at the university). My BA is in Modern Languages in the University of Puerto Rico(French and Italian), and I've used Tintin videos, DVD's and books to practice, at least, my French and my second language, English.

I'm also a fan of Disney's Duck Tales, Code Lyoko, and The Monkees.
I love the Lord Of The Rings as well!
My hobbies are to write stories, to listen (and to sing) to music, reading and drawing. Of course, I enjoy a lot to watch TV and movies, especially, my DVD's of Tintin!

I know that you have a thing for LOTR already, Triskeliae! ;)
as for the monkees, I have never heard any of their songs, but one of them lives in my town.

Hello, folks!

My real name is Gabrielle. This is my third post on this site and I’m excited! I've been a Tintin fan since I was ten, when a friend brought V. 6 of the three-in-one series over to my house. I eyed it all evening, and 'forgot' to remind them to take it home. From that day on I was hooked. I checked the books out from the library, read them to myself, read them to my sibs, renewed them, and read them again. My mom finally took the hint and bought me the series, book by book, down to Tintin and the Alph-Art.

I’m sixteen. It’s funny...from the moment I read Tintin, I couldn’t wait to be his age. I wanted to grow up and start having adventures right away. I had my plans laid. First the moon, then the Middle East, then all the European stuff. There was only one catch: I couldn’t find out how old Tintin was! I tried to calculate it a couple of times, but kept coming up with ages like seventy-five or ninety. Certainly I didn’t want to wait that long.

The hard moment came, of course. I found out that most people do not do the things that Tintin does. I found out that I probably would not. I also found out that Tintin doesn’t have an age. Therefore I would never be as old as he is.

I don’t have a favorite Tintin book. I have unfavorite Tintin books (Flight 714 and Tintin and the Picaros), but the rest are too individual. Each story has its own special angle.

I am sort of a purist when it comes to Herge’ and his comics. I don’t mind imitative drawings: I do that myself. Nor does fanfiction bother me. However, attempts at actual comic raises my hackles. I can admire the devotion of an honest fan following the master. I can appreciate personal talent. But in the literal medium of story and art combined, I am fiercely defensive. No one can equal Herge’ in his creation. No one. Grrr.

I’m from the U.S., where Tintin is woefully overcast by Spiderman and Mickey Mouse. I’m a junior in high school, aiming for a medical field. Besides Tintin, my life consists of five siblings, five cats, J.R.R. Tolkien, Homer, and a piano. I have a companionable disgust for anime; no offense.

Everyone who’s read Tintin knows that he travels all over the world. May I take this opportunity to comment that he quite literally has. Never in my short life have I seen a single web page contributed to by a Swede, an Asian, a Brit, an Indian. We’re ages from ten to “over 21”. Yet here we are, connected.
For those who took the time to read this, I admire your fortitude. This is more a short book than a brief biography. I appeal to over enthusiasm; here in the Disney nation, Tintin is a rare subject. I apologize for taking up so much room. Forgive me.

I’ve never quite gotten over the idea of an adventuresome life. Who knows? I’m young…aspiring…reasonably courageous. Maybe the life of a reporter/detective/nosy parker could be mine after all.
