Hi! my name is Elijah. I'm 10 1/2. I live in WA. I'm new here(I became a member only 4 days ago). I'v been a fan of Tintin for 2 years now(the very first Tintin book I read was "Destination Moon"). I'v read every single Tintin book except Alph-Art. I only own one Tintin book, "Tintin in the Congo"(someday I'm gonna get every book in the series). My favourite albumes: The crab with the golden claws and Flight 714 to Sydney(its hard to pick which one is my favourite album). My least-favourite album: Tintin in Tibet.

Hello,

My name is Stephen Trinder, but I think you can figure out where I got my username from. I'm 21. I am in Buffalo, NY. In the United States, but on the border with Canada. In fact I probably wouldn't be a Tintin fan if I didn't live near Canada. I watched the Ellipse/Nelvana series on Global. I didn't have cable, but I saw it on Nickelodeon a couple of times at other people's houses. After it's run on Global ended, I forgot about it until about 10 years ago, when CBC picked up re-runs (but only showed Season 1). After that it sort of went away again, though if you brought up Tintin, I'd know exactly what you were talking about. But I have a college who is obsessed with movies and mentioned the upcoming release of The Secret of the Unicorn. I looked it up on Wikipedia and YouTube and have now completely re-watched the 90's series and started watching Belvision's.

I haven't read any of the books, since they are so rare in America, nor do I have any Tintin merchandise. I hope the movie can change that.

I am in college studying Broadcasting. I also like trains and hockey (Toronto Maple Leafs, even though Buffalo has it's own team).

I look forward to discussing and surely learning more about Tintin, Snowy, Captain Haddock, Herge and everything else Tintin related.

Hi all,

just thought I'd finally stop lurking and sign up.

My name is Stephen, from Australia, 42, and been a Tintin reader since I was 9. Back then I borrowed most of the books in the series from my school library so often, the Head Librarian took them out of service and allowed me to buy them all for $1 the lot! Sadly all of those books have long gone but I have had much enjoyment in recent years collecting them in both hardback and paperback. I even have my 8 year-old daughter hooked on the DVD episodes and she has started her Tintin collection with a couple of books.

What I enjoy most about Tintin is the old school boy-type adventure theme: traveling to exotic lands, danger and suspense. I did hear someone recently (Spielberg?) state that Tintin was the original Indiana Jones. Whether I heard this comment correctly or not, I wholeheartedly agree with it and I've always thought that from the minute I saw the first Indiana Jones movie.

I'm a bit of a romantic when it comes to the 30's - 50's and I have always had an interest in European and old Soviet culture, so Tintin's adventures fits in well with all that.

Tintin's adventures take me back to a simpler age of sending telegrams, rotary-dial phones, fedora hats and traveling by steamships or prop aircrafts.

I look forward to engaging with other fellow Tintinologists here on the forum!

Regards,
Stephen

Welcome to the forum, Marlinspike421.

French critics did compare Tintin to Indiana Jones when "Raiders of the Lost Ark" first appeared in France in the early 1980s. It was while reading these comments that Spielberg first learned of Tintin and was intrigued enough to accept a Tintin book from a colleague in order to find out more. He even contacted Herge over the possibility of making a film.

Hello!

I'm tintinsgf (you'd better know me in this forum just by that nick name :D). I am from Indonesia, a college student, and I have known (and fallen in love to <3) Tintin since 7 years old. I knew him from the TV series, though, as I didn't have any access to Tintin comic books back then.

The Tintin movie, regardless people's view on it, have made my love for Tintin grow again.

Regards

Hello everybody, I'm Ginger_Tuft on the forums, and I just joined yesterday! I've loved Tintin ever since I was a little kid and even if we have only five books, I devoured them and they helped me to read better! I think they're great, and the movie's great too! Hope to see you around the forums. :) We are all connected because of Herge.

Hello everyone! My name is Lenka, I'm 25 years old and I live in Brno in the Czech Republic. My hobbies are tourism and bicycling (I wish I could ride a bike all around Europe), geocaching, drawing, amateur astronomy, military, anime and manga, movies and serials. I have two pet animals, a parakeet and a rabbit.

With Tintin, I met him for the first time about seventeen years ago. He was my childhood love and still my hero :).

I've read every Tintin album (and watch all episodes of serial) and I totally enjoyed it.

My favourite books are Tintin in Tibet and Prisoners of the Sun and maybe Explorers on the Moon (sci-fi is my favourite film genre). I love his honesty, sense of deduction and his cute image :D.

And now, Steven Spielberg gave him a real life-look on his new film The Secert of the Unicorn. I really love this film, my heart beating so strong, when I look in Tintin's eyes :D.

I was in the cinema twice in one month! This really does not happen to me :). He is really awesome hero.
My English is not very good, I'm sorry for it :).

Welcome to the forums, Aurelia! Glad to hear that Tintin is going down well in the Czech Republic - perhaps you could add seeing the film in each country, as something to do as you cycle round Europe…? ;-)
