Just joined this great forum

Sebastian from Paraguay, now living in San Fransisco, USA.

Am 38 years old. As a kid I loved French-Belgian comics such as Asterix, Lucky Luke, Blake & Mortimer and Tintin. Growing up the Asterix series was my favorite, but upon re-reading some of these comics as an adult I have become far more interested in the Tintin series. I appreciate Tintin now far more than as a kid for the subtlety in the Herge's art, and the depth of the stories in these wonderful and influential series.

Collected all of the Tintin albums again and here I am, happy to have the chance to discuss the Tintin world.

And, more belatedly, welcome, Haddock54/Joe.

Hi everyone :)
I'm Cat from Bonny Scotland.
I've been a Tintin fan since I was about seven - unfortunately, the first comic I ever read has been lost somewhere in the mists of time.
I haven't seen the film yet (sob!) and I'm working on my collection again as a lot of it seems to have gone walkies over the years.
I may as well say it now... I have a huge crush on Tintin that has lasted twenty two years and doesn't show any signs of going away - so I apologise in advance for "fangirling" over him.
I'm a writer and live with my two kitties.

Hi there

Nicoline Louw, Namibia, SA, 28 years old. My mom was from Belgium, so obviously growing up with Tintin is tradition. My father is South African and also collected the comics, so I have 2 copies of each story, one in english and the other in french.

I loved Tintin most from the other collections I had, Asterix, Lucky Luke and Spirou. In primary school I had a crush on him(in a way still do) and in High School, the comic drawings taught me to draw different human postures for Art Class.

After my mom died, the comics became a huge part of my life again, as I felt to connect with her through them again. Reading the french versions brings back her voice to when she read it to me before bed in my childhood years.

Today I am a writer, having published 6 books. I reframe from making any of my characters anything like Tintin - I dont think anyone could even get close to what Herge created, so I am sticking to my own imagination ;)

Jay48

Hi Jay. I'm a Srilankan too :)

Moderator Note: It’s best when responding to someone else’s post, especially when it is not on the same page (you’ve picked a person who posted 9 pages ago), to include a link back to their post like this, so that other members have some idea what’s going on.
That said, we also ask that members try and use their discretion when reviving old posts and threads; Jay48 posted that message a couple of years ago, and hasn’t posted anything since July 2010, so while it might be nice for you to find another Sri Lankan member, the chances of Jay48 being around to respond would seem to be slight.

Hi everyone.

Have been reading topics on this for a few days now and have finally signed up :)

I'm from Scotland and am 15 years old. I got my first Tintin albums (the two Moon alubms) when I was 10 I think. I've loved them ever since and have become more and more obssessed :)
Tintin has got me interested in comics and art in general (the art style is fantastic).

Apart from Tintin, I love reading, Harry Potter being my favourite series. I also love the Gone books by Michael Grant and Eragon by Christopher Paolini. I also love drawing and sketching and want to have a career in art when I leave school. Guitar playing and rock music are also extreme passions of mine.

Can't wait to discuss Tintin with you all :D

I'm Linda, from London (UK), I'm 46, and now live in Sussex.

I've read Tintin and been a fan since i was about 6-7 yrs old as my older brother already had started being given and reading the English Tintin books in random order before i even remember.

As i've grown up i've always continued reading and treasure my original 1960's-70's Tintin books.

Of course i also remember watching the original Belvision Adventures of Tintin on UK television in the 1970's school holidays.

As an adult I took up collecting the then rarer and my missing Tintin books (Golden Fleece, Blue Oranges, French Congo, Land of Soviets, Alph Art, Tintin & the World of Herge, French pre-1960's Black Island, French 1950's Land Black Gold, B&W Tintin in America, B&W Congo), and then many plastic and "Bully" toys and figurines.

I now also have most the plastic Tintin figurines since the 1990's, and a few of the boxed Tintin & Snowy (books charachter) figures, and all Michael Farr's books among a few other authors.

Most my recent purchases over the past ten years have been from the London Tintin Shop.

My favourite themed Tintin books are the Balkan based stories and the Khemed/Arab books.

My very favourites are - King Ottokar's Sceptre, Calculus Affair, Black Island, Land Black Gold, Red Sea Sharks, Seven Crystal Balls, Castafiore Emerald.

I enjoy many of the Tintinologist Forum threads and posts.

Well... Here goes...

I do not wish to tell my age, but my name is Kim (female).I Travel all over the world and so sailing quite often. I first discoved Tintin when I was the library in the Jr. comics section. I was facinated by the halarious French jokes and drawings. I still read the comics over and over and rant on to my friends about how great he is (guilty of making friends see the new Tintin movies at the Cinama)! I collect anything with Tintin on it (I'm sooooooo obsesed with it)! I laugh at the funny vidios that are posted Youtube. The thing is, whenever I watch the 1960's short movies based off the comics, I find them off a little... or should I say A LOT. Like Tintin in America, it never shows the scene of when Tintin comes in contact with the Native Americans (they just skipped a huge part of the story!!!). My hobby is colecting stamps and my occupation is a jounalist. I am doing a story in Califorinia this summer in July. Check out my story! I'll post it ASAP! My favorite color is blue and I do dooldles of Tintin everywhere! On newspapers, napkins, and anywhere else I can! My cell phone and computer backround is Tintin, and Tintin inspired me to become a Reporter! I'll move to Belgium (once I make enough money) and live in an apartment. As if right now, I live in a normal house in Michigan. Speaking of Michigan, I was born there and lived there ever since.

Whew! That's a lot of typing.
