Hi everybody,

Yikes, no new messages for over three years. I hope I didn't join a completely dead forum.

I go by John Snow, after the famous epidemiologist. I've been a big Tintin fan for as long as I can remember, a fondness that was nurtured by my dad and older brothers. Grew up reading the Dutch Tintin books and watching the Ellipse series over and over (and over). Currently residing in the UK.

I've stumbled on this website several times over the years, and thought it worth to finally make an account. I have the entire collection at home, though only use the Tintin app to occasionally read the comics nowadays.

Hi I am Dave. I'm 60 years old. I'm from British Columbia Canada. I been an avid Tintin reader and collector since my parents bought me my first Tintin book in 1967-when I was 5 1/2 years old. Originally I owned the original Methuen editions-which passed down to my nephews.

Hi everyone, I'm Sven. I'm German but grew up with English Tintin in Kenya. We had the British versions from Magnet available there and in the course of several years acquired all the canon books shown on the back of each of them, so no Soviets, Congo, Making of or Alph-Art,
I did borrow Congo in German from a classmate at some point but don't remember much of it though,

I recently got our Tintin collection from one of my brothers, and it's almost complete. The Black Island is missing, but he added that and Tibet in French hard cover.
The chronology on the back of the Casterman French hard covers is slightly more accurate than the Magnet British version (Cigars - Lotus - Broken Ear).
I also noticed the picture gallery in the sleeve of these books, the blue-and-white portrays of many characters. I'm currently numbering the pictures on the computer and want to name them all as possible.
Oh, and we have "Lake of Sharks" - twice. Don't really count that though, it sticks out like a sore thumb.
I'm currently in a Tintin kind of mood and hope there will be some interaction here, even though this is obviously not a hot current issue.

Welcome Sven - glad to have you aboard!

On the subject of the gallery portraits, I put together a guide about exactly that a few years ago, with a key and list of the various figures, and notes on where they come from, and posted it on our Facebook page.

You can find it here, and I hope it helps you with your researches!
