I'm Rachael, die-hard Tintin fanatic (one of these days, I'll compile the nearest you can get to an unofficial guide), wannabe writer and student.

I first discovered the books three years ago, and although eyebrows were raised (I was fifteen and a half), no one seriously minded, putting it down as yet another quirk/foible (I have a lot).

Indeed the one person who has ever contested my love for the Boy Wonder is my girlfriend (maybe she's jealous)...

My other interests are reading, writing, cinema, theatre, the Occult, mythology, musicals, history, art, radio... the list goes on and on.

I love Archie and hate Allan. Enough said.

Rachael, which side of the ocean are you on? (Or which ocean, I guess?) :) There's a pretty good cross-section on this board.

Hey Rachael - are you planning a hostile take-over of the forum-board? ;)

I'm a Brit, and no, I'm not planning a hostile takeover, lol!

I wouldn't know how to go about it!

Hi,

Just joined the site as a member today. I'm Mark, from Oxfordshire in England, and I've been reading Tintin since age 7 (20 years ago). Actually, I haven't read any for a while, but I devoured the books as a child, and so I know some of them like the back of my hand.

Hello, all of you people. I'm Danielle, I'm 17, I'm on the eastern coast of Canada. I love reading + drawing comics, movies, folklore, and languages. And someday maybe I'll actually be a comic artist (everyone has a dream, right?).
I'm not exactly sure when I started reading Tintin, but my earliest memory of it is one of my uncles from Quebec bringing me "L'ile Noire" when he came to visit. I think I was in primary at that point... Since then, I gathered together the whole collection of books (in French) and I read them, well, a lot.

Hi Fellow Tintin Fans,

My name is Girish (Maximus is my login name) and I am 25 years old. I live in Bangalore (India) and I am a Software Engineer. I started reading Tintin almost 12 years ago. I used to go to the central library just to read Tintin. The first album I read was 'The Black Island'. I got very interested in the comic due to the details of drawings and the reality in story (no exaggerations, no unrealistic stunts etc..). When I saw the back-cover page, I realised that there are lot other comics to please me. From then onwards, I got more and more attracted to Tintin and Herge's work.

I have read all the 22 stories of Tintin (including 'Lake of Sharks'. Other two main stories, i.e, 'Tintin in the Land of Soviet' and 'Tintin in Congo' are not available here, as far as I know). All these are English versions. The most interestiong stories to me among Tintin stories are 'Tintin and The Picaros', 'The Red Rackham's Treasure' and 'The Calculus Affair'.

About my hobbies: I listen to Music, read Tintin for 'Nth' time (i keep on reading it...), Caricature (my latest hobby, i was good at drawing when i was a kid...) and watching TV (NGC, Discovery, Animal Planet, Movies and Sports).

Cheers,
Maximus

Hi, I'm Hannah, (or Fu Yi Tian to the Chinese society) I absolutley LOVE Tintin comics, and was unfortunately introduced to it by my little brother (cough, cough) and being a writer, my stories are very much influenced by Herge...

Greetings All!

Thought I'd take a wee moment to introduce myself to the community... My name is Colin, and I'm a 25 yr. old Canadian living in Vancouver.

From kindergarten to gr.12, I was a french-immersion student. As was the case with many of my fellow classmates I fell in love with Tintin's adventures at an early age, car c'était un(e? it's been a while) chance de pratiquer mon Français, et au même temps de me cacher dans une monde d'aventure et fantasie.

For years, I kept my incomplete collection of Tintin books on my shelf and rarely touched them. Only earlier this month, my girlfriend picked one up on a whim and tried to step through it - she's taken a few French classes, but is still in the early stages of learning.

I'm happy to report that since my gf picked up that first book, we've been reading my old Tintin books together, and it's caused me to once again find that old passion I held for these stories so long ago. I was thrilled to find such an established (and knowledgable!) community focused on this subject.

And y'now, I've started to think that maybe it's time to track down those volumes I'm missing from my collection - the French versions, naturellement.

Cheers all,
Colin
