The festivities appear to be under way in the Belgian capital, where all sorts of activities appear to have been arranged.

There are some pictures from a press conference here.

Update: Belgian TV are streaming live coverage of the premiere on-line - it's in French, but they are interviewing celebs in English if appropriate. I've just seen Jamie Bell and Jean-Pierre Talbot being chatted to - sadly not together!

Further Update: Coverage continues, both within the news shows, but most notably in a Tintin Special being shown at 20:15 Brussels Time, 19:15 in the U.K.

Did anyone of you go to Brussels yesterday?

My girldfriend and I went to check out the atmosphere around the world premiere and it was truly amazing!

Sadly we couldn't find a place right behind the red carpet fences but we did find a higher vantage point only a few meters away.

We got to see Spielberg, Bell, Elmaleh, Talbot, Kennedy, the Rodwell's and plenty of other local celebrities as they walked the red carpet towards my favourite childhood movie theater 'Eldorado'(which name has been changed to 'UGC De Brouckère' years ago but I refuse to call it that :p)

After having lunch we went back to the theater to see if we could get a glimpse of them leaving. Apparently, Spielberg and crew had left for Paris already but luckily we did see Talbot leave. He was kind enough to take pictures with us and give us an autograph. He's truly a very sweet man!

Later, when the theater crew started to take away the fences near the red carpet we got a meter or two of the large fabric tape with the world premiere logo that lined the fences. Another great souvenir.

Yup, yesterday will be a day long remembered! :)

No, sadly didn't have the opportunity; but I watched the live coverage on-line!

I've only ever been when it has been called the UGC, but the "Eldorado"-themed cinema inside is still the most beautiful I've ever seen! It will look doubly fantastic if they do a Prisoners adaptation!!

Lucky you! His appearance was a highlight of the day, and he was great on the evening Tintin Special that Belgian TV ran - so positive about his life "as" Tintin, and the new film.

Oh, good catch! I did eye up some of the blue "red" carpet with pictures from the film on, but there were too many people still standing on it to try, and my girlfriend wouldn't have been very happy anyway!

Glad you had a good time, and thank you for sharing!

Saw the Tintin movie in 3D in English (with French subtitles) at the first showing in Bordeaux, France on Tuesday 25th October. The enormous cinema had only about 14 people watching! Needless to say the film in 3D is fantastic. Added to this I found the Tintin boutique was about 50 yards from my hotel - and there are other outlets. Brought the 1.99 euro figure and collectors set. Everywhere was Tintin and Snowy! All very exciting.

I hope you make it home before you go broke...! :-)

Let's hope that the reason the cinema was empty was that it was early on a Tuesday, and it wasn't a holiday...

Yes, Tuesday at 8pm seemed an odd time to have the first showing.
The rain fell like a monsoon! We seemed to be the only English speaking individuals there ... I still found it hard to believe that it was going to be in English with French subtitles. And it was - someone said that it was usual to have English speaking films with French subtitles. Amazing - and the film was also showing (in French) in three other cinemas in the same complex (of 12). There was definitely a crowd there for Tintin (did not see any costumes) although I understood there was a reduced price for individual wearing Tintin character costumes. It was a great end to a fantastic holiday in the vineyards of Bordeaux.
