I know, the grammatical way to say that is "Tintin IN jeopardy!" However, I am referring to the television game show, Jeopardy!

If you aren't familiar with the show, the contestants are given an answer and they must come up with an appropriate question. There are three rounds, in the first two: Jeopardy and Double Jeopardy, the contestants have to be the first to buzz in before they can "question."

In the last round, Final Jeopardy, all the contestants write their questions down.

The category for Final Jeopardy on Feb. 8, 2012 was "Comic Books" and the answer was:

"An inspiration for this character, introduced in 1929, was 15-year-old Palle Huld's 1928 44-day voyage around the world."

I heard about that last night. I can't believe that only one person knew who Tintin was.

ಠ_ಠ This disappointed me. Although, is that question a little obscure? I would have only known the answer from the mention of 1929.

I agree with Brianna, as a circumnavigator, Palle Huld wasn't as famous as Nellie Bly or any other circumnavigator (or to put it jokingly, he's not even more famous than Phileas Fogg, though he went much faster :P). So I think it's not the Tintin that was unknown, it was the question indeed.

Yes, it was a very difficult question. I neglected to mention that this was a semi-final for the College Championship.

The girl who was in third place was the only contestant who got it right, which is why she won the round and will be in the finals.

I think it’s also a pity that they picked a topic which isn’t even a certainty – there’s no confirmation of which I’m aware, anyway, that Hergé had even heard of Huld at the time Tintin launched, let alone that he was inspired by the story.
The legend mainly appears to stem from Huld himself, not from Hergé, and as I’ve said before, without further evidence I’m sceptical.

Never actually having heard of Huld before, I assumed it came up in an interview with Hergé or something. I am now also highly sceptical xD

Also on Jeopardy, a few weeks ago, one of the "answers" described the type of pants Tintin wears (without reference to our hero). Of course, I replied, "What are plus fours?" My wife and 16 year old daughter asked how I knew this. I told them, and received a very strange look!

Huld was a faint evidence. I mean, as far as I remember, there's no solid investigation on him, whether if he was ever been used as an inspiration for Tintin, all that ever existed are only reports of the speculation about it.

I think you can rather say,"I wish they are making a revival in today's fashion world ;)."
