BDzoom.com, the Francophone comics website, has reported the death of Jean-Luc Vernal, the editor of Tintin magazine when it finally closed.
Born in Brussels in 1944, he became a newspaper journalist and editor, and authored books of political interviews.
In 1967 he turned his hand to scripting comics, and his strip Jugurtha (which he wrote under the pseudonym "Laymilie" appeared in the magazine of which he would go on to become chief editor.

Our condolences to his family and those who knew him.
