Apparently this October, there are going to be a series of conferences in Belgium and France in order to discuss Herge, Tintin and their influence in the run-up to the centenary of the beginning of Tintin in 2029. They will discuss a whole range of themes from translations to Tintin in the age of AI.

Here is a French comics website which gives details:
Les Cultures de Tintin.

You should be able to get a translation through your browser or Google Translate.

What I enjoyed was the poster that they have made for the occasion. You can get a bigger version here.
It must be admitted, Tintin has become a sort of a fetish himself :)

And I like the inclusion of E P Jacobs wearing Mortimer's spacesuit-like outfit from "Time Trap", probably a comment on his contributions to Tintin during and after the war and his own influence on Ligne claire.

The inclusion of Chang in the boat seemed a bit odd, but then I remembered the influence he had in the development of the Tintin series through "The Blue Lotus".

These conferences appear to be a taste of what we are in for come January 2029 when the real centenary celebrations will begin.

In reference to Skotk's recent query about Benoit Peeters, the article mentions that he will be attending one of these conferences, focusing on Herge's ligne claire style of drawing, and concludes with:

"It is likely that the name of Nick Rodwell will be more than once pronounced between grinding teeth..." :)
