Many times I have seen the villain Allan referred to as "Allan Thompson" by many people, including Michael Farr.
However, I cannot find anywhere where he is called anything more than just Allan. Have I missed where his last name is revealed?

"Nomen est omen" dear cigars, the answer is Cigars of the pharaoh (pg. 10). The coastguards boat is after Allan and the machinegun man shouts: "That's Allan Thompson's boat. We'll get him ..."

Actually in Finnish edition you can read Allan Thompson's boat, there is no Thompson in English edition. The English translator must have dropped Thompson out for some reason (awful hangover I reckon) or the Finnish translator has improvised (still loaded):)

No, thankfully it wasn't because of an awful hangover. The translators were sober enough to realise that 'Thompson' had been used as a surname for one of the detectives. So as not to confuse matters they made 'Allan' the surname.

Well, I assume it's meant to be his surname.

That's what I thought as well of course, the hangover was a joke, but then he must be plain Allan only in the English albums. Thompson brothers are Dupond/t in Finnish edition so there is no danger to mix up the names.

Well, I guess that explains it. I always thought it was strange for his last name to be "Thompson" since that name had already been used for the two detectives. Thanks, everyone!
