Sorry for opening another post..i hope I dont bug to much with questions..

Information on obtaining pirate copies removed.

there is a b&W version of Congo - is it the original one? and in the new coloured version there is difference in the texts?

There is 62 pages colour version of alpha written by Yves Rodier- How much is it based on the original version? Did the the original version came out only at b&W?

I understand the "Land of black gold" old version went on in Palestine, did this version came out only in France or in English too? I'm asking that because i'm from Israel and curious to see the old one..

Moderator Note: Good morning, and thank you for your enthusiasm!

First point, do not discuss obtaining the books illegally - it is completely forbidden here (regardless of whether or not you are buying the books).

Secondly, you will find answers to all your questions, and probably many more, if you use the “Search the Forums” option at the top of the page (below the general search box). All these issues have been discussed.

Please familiarise yourself with the posting guidelines if you are in any doubt.

Hi Bilbo,

The only way to obtain the original version 'Au Pays de L'or Noir' is in french; either 2nd hand or a new facsimile available from Casterman France online.

regards,

mat

Just to be 100% accurate, the true original version of the story is incomplete, and I don’t think it has ever been republished - it was serialised Le Petit Vingtième between the 28th of September 1939 and the 8th of May 1940, when it ceased, mid-adventure. You can read a little about it here.
But what you say about the book version is correct, mat.

The story is in fact available, in reduced format, in the seventh volume of the Complete Rombaldi edition (i.e. the volume containing the standard 1971 colour version of the story).

Although out of print, copies of individual volumes are regularly offered on e-bay. The full set can be acquired for around 400-500 euros.

As for the seven volume supplement - "L'Univers d'Herge" - well, that is another matter...

...and you will need to arm yourself with around 1,000 euros.

Ah, thanks for that! I’d not known about the reprint. In fact I know little about the Rombaldi things at all, other than that they tend to be expensive!

The coloured version is a simplified version of the b&w one. The texts are different.

I own the old version in its Brazilian/Portuguese edition.
