Tintin's popularity in India?

Tintin and Asterix have historically been the most popular comics in Bengal (way more than American comics), a large fraction of the middle-class
grew up reading them. ABP was active for decades translating, serialising and promoting the albums. Parents from that era are still buying Tintin for their kids, though I don't know if kids are still reading them. American dominance of the culture industry has become more pronounced over time (along with Japanese perhaps).

Once upon a time, Lucky Luke would have also had his place with Tintin and Asterix - more albums were available in Bengali translation than in English. By the time I was a kid though, Lucky Luke had almost been forgotten. Maybe Tintin will go the same way.
