A friendly note, Briony, we don't like being called "Red Indians" because we're not red Most of us are olive, like Southern Europeans, or light brown. Native American or American Indian is good, and if the person is Canadian Native, the term First Nations works. Some of us prefer our tribal affiliations (for example, I'm Eastern Band Cherokee.)
