What should I do for Tintin club?

Recently, some of my friends and I formed a Tintin club. I was elected president and we are having our first club meeting soon.

I've never really been in a club before, so I have no idea what you do in one.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Thanks!

Hmmm... A bit of a poser, that one, without more information.

How many of you are there in your group, and what sort of ages? Depending on that, you may be looking to find a café or bar where you can meet, or you might be of an age where your school might offer you a corner of the library or a classroom.

Then yo could look for themes in the books to discuss, or be able to get members of the group who have other interests to speak about how that subject is dealt with in the books - e.g. have someone who knows about cars talk about some of the vehicles in the stories.

Perhaps really the best people to ask are the ones with whom you started the club? You must have had some idea of what you were going to do when you thought of the club?

Sorry for not responding sooner. There are 11 people in the club and ages 6-13. None of us have been in an actual club before. We started it because all of us love Tintin. There are 4 boys and 7 girls.

No problem! Sorry to have taken so long to responding to your original post.
Okay - now there are some details, it's easier to offer some suggestions.

I'll assume that you can work out a suitable all-ages appropriate place for your group to meet, and that you have permissions from your parents or guardians to be there.

First thing you might want to do is find out who has read which books, and if anyone has got books which ones that they are. It could be that those who have them could bring books to the club for others who haven't read them before to read them there?

You could read through a book together, and see if there are any points about the story that you would like to discuss, such as the locations, the art, the humour, the plot, etc. That way you might get a better appreciation of them.

There are also things like the cartoons and films - you might be able to watch them together.

Look through the forums here for ideas too: there are threads about Hergé and his life and art, as well as ones devoted to specific scenes in stories and characters. You might find some topic that would make a good discussion, or something about a story that could make reading the book more fun.

If anyone has questions, you could also look on here, and see if we have the answers for you - if not, you could post a new question here to see if anyone knows the solution.

I'm really looking forward to hearing what you get up to, and how the club develops, so do let us know!

How wonderful... Tintin lives on with enthusiasm from Gen. Alpha.

It is quite likely that a couple of you will retain an interest in Tintin for the rest of your lives. Each time you reread the books you will notice things you hadn't previously, and thus it becomes a continuing source of entertainment.

May I ask where you are from?

How wonderful, Tintin continues to inspire with Gen. Alpha.

It is quite likely that a couple of you will remain Tintin/Herge fans for the rest of your lives!. Each time you reread the books you will see things you hadn't seen previously. They are nicely complex and compelling.

May I ask where your young group is based?

Sorry nTINTINz! I haven't been on tintinologist in a while. We are in Greenville area, central Michigan.
I definitely agree with what you said on rereading the books.

We recently had our second Tintin club meeting. We discussed central aspects of Tintin. Some of the ones our group thought of are he's a boy, Caucasian, and looks fairly young. He has yellow or ginger hair with a funny tuft on top. He makes friends easily, is very loyal, has a strong sense of justice, and is forgiving. He also has a western worldview.

We are thinking about starting a site on Etsy to raise money for a clubhouse.
