I Know where I can get Tintin and the Lake of Sharks, but where can I get the other two film books? (Golden Fleece and Blue Oranges). (I'd like to get them new.)

Also, where can I get the actual films of these?

Thanks,
Gabe

I don't believe you can get them new anywhere. It's hard enough to find second-hand versions.
I've searched for ages but no luck.

I have Golden Fleece from 1965 HB. I have thought about selling it but it's still a bit precious to me. I shouldn't have mentioned it really. It's not all it's cracked up to be I personally think. It's just a story book, like they do the ones for the Asterix films these days. It has photo stills from the film some in colour and some in black and white but the black and white ones are obviously touched up with an airbrush or something. There are a couple of colour drawings within the book which are drawn in the Herge style. There is a parrot at the end and a red crocodile somewhere in the middle whether or not they were drawn by Herge is another matter, I doubt it. I was lucky and saw this book on a small market stall 20 years ago. It was priced at a pound (British money). From that day to this I still haven't read it all the way through.

Further to your question I have seen these books come up on ebay but they are very few and far between. The last one I saw was Blue Oranges and that sold for about £130

Hi Jon - welcome to the forums.

No, the movie books are currently out of print, and have been for many many years (certainly in English; the French ones were available until a few years ago, but no longer).

You might be able to find second-hand copies, but they only appear infrequently.

You might also want to try doing a search on the forums, using the link in the top right-hand corner, because you will find that there are already a few discussions about the films and their books.

Well I never knew that there were books on Golden Fleece, Blue Oranges and Lake of Sharks, but I bet they will not be bearing the Hergé logo on the top.

The Lake of Sharks is still readily available in English and French at least. The English edition states "Based on the characters created by Hergé", and I think the French credits Studios Hergé. You can get it from the usual online stores like Amazon.

To clarify, these are NOT comic strip books. They have some stills from the movie productions and a narrative, but even the narrative may not be written by Herge. The same is true of the cartoon "Lake of Sharks."
