Hi everyone, To me it would seem that rather than a South American country, San Theodoros is located on the Yucatan peninsula. I deduce this from the pyramid that Tintin and all visit in "Tintin and the Picaros." The Pyramid of Hotuatabotl very closely resembles the Toltec /Mayan pyramid of Chichen Itza. see this article

Yes, the name sound Mayan also but could be also a reference to the Incas, I don't know. But maybe is the way of creating a Latinamerican (not only Southameircan) amalgamation. For example, the liberator of San Theodoros is General Olivaro, an obvious reference to Simón Bolívar who liberated most nations of Southamerica. The Mexican hats makes you of Mexico (obviously) and the architecture in Picaros seems more to be from Brazil

In my point of view, San Theodoros is heavily based on Brazil/Venezuela; but that's mu humble opinion...

I don't know about it being in Brazil, because to my knowledge, there are no such pyramids in Brazil, but many in Yucatan. I think El Castillo at Chichen Itza must have been the inspiration for Hotuatabotl.
