In comics, you can usually tell at a glance which characters are bad and which are good. However, in Tintin there were at least two occurences of good guys who look bad. Here they are: Mark Falconer from The Seven Crystal Balls. He has a terrible scowl on his face, and then, you see him packing iron, which makes him seem a bit villainous. Also, there is Skut. I read Flight 714 before The Red Sea Sharks, so I knew nothing of him. As soon as I saw him, I thought that he must be bad, because of the eyepatch. Somehow, though, I overlooked the fact that Captain Haddock and Tintin knew him as a friend. And, also, there is Pablo, who switches from looking bad to looking good, then, when he becomes bad again, he looks bad again, although his look never really changes. (I think that his mustache may have been a bit smaller in Picaros than it appeared in The Broken Ear, but that was just due to changes in Herge's drawing style) Can anyone think of any other characters to ad to this list of bad looking heroes and kind looking villains from Tintin?

Same with me. I read flight 714 before Sharks. And skut looked like a villain with an eye-patch, but i knew skut had a debut in Sharks when captain haddock mentions it. Also Allan does not look much like a villain when he is not frowning. In broken ear there is an assassin whose name i cannot remember, tintin befriends him and later that guy arranges for tintin's escape from prison and he becomes a typical example for a bad-looking hero.

And you know what, in Explorers, Frank wolff proves himself as a good looking villain. In Emerald, Wagner wins everybody's suspicion of him being the emerald thief, but he was not.

Hello,

Ivan Ivanovitch Sakharine doesn't look a nice guy to me although he is a honourable collector. I could never trust him, and by the way he is my friend's lookalike.

The assasin in The Broken Ear is Pablo, who I mentioned before. In Picaros, he turns into a traitor again.

That is shocking. I generally like heroes who were villains before. In sharks even Skut was a villain when he meets tintin and captain. Skut was the pilot of the plane which guns down the ship, taking tintin and captain to Mecca.

Yes, Beep, the assasin who saved Tintin's life once, and, as our Belgian reporter mentioned in the Picaros comic book, "...I'll never forget that."

Tintin is so noble and forgiving. You would think that Tintin would either have not trusted the brute ever at all or not have forgiven him. By the way, Mr. Baxter in the moon books is another example of a good character who looks like he could be corrupt. I think it is because he never smiles.

This is the second time I have been called "Beep".

why, cute, isn't it? so how would you like me to call you then?

by the way, shall we consider Alfredo Topolino on the list?

I would prefer not to be called "Beep" all of the time. People used to always call me "Cigars" which I thought made a lot more sense.
I think that Professor Topolino would be a good addition to the list, since he does look a bit suspicious and thought that Calculus was bad.
