Storing your Tintin books...

Hello all,

I hope all is well with everybody.

As my collection of Tintin collectibles very slowly starts to grow, I thought I'd ask some of you how you store your rare editions. I am considering protecting some of my early Tintin books, but as I am no comic book aficionado I wonder if any of you have any tips or suggestions. Those of you who are lucky enough to own first editions, do you have them on show in bags or have you boxed them carefully away?

Take care and enjoy your Easter,

Lee :)

Thanks Dreamdust, it's nice to know how others store their books.

I made a wooden case to store all my paperback editions in. It works quite well, but I don't have any collectible editions either (aside from things like the first edition of Tintin in the Congo in English, which is quite new)

If by protecting you mean keeping them in the same condition they were when you bought them my suggestion would be to invest in some acid free plastic bags and some cardboards to match. Normally you (can) buy them as a set, I think.

The cardboard should prevent shelf-wear (the cardboard has to be bigger than the comic/book) and the acid free plastic bags supposedly will prevent the colors from fading.
Placing the cardboard in the bag will elevate the comic book slightly and thereby preventing it from touching the shelf. Also, don't expose to direct sunlight.

I did this way, way back when I thought I had a couple of comics worth protecting.

Anyway, these are only suggestions so please don't take it for more than it is.

If you want to put a book on display, a mini-diesel might come in handy.
