Just a random thought after reading the Castifiore Emerald (sorry if I spelt that wrong but I can't be bothered to get up and check ^_^) and I wonder if Nestor and Irma would be good as a romantic couple. It's just that they seem to have quite a bit in common; they're put upon by their respective employers and just seem so sweet together.

What do the rest of you think?

Awwww, that would be sweet! It's just rather hard to imagine Nestor married and wearing anything but a butler suit!

Nestor seems to me to be someone who could never be anyone but the Marlinspike butler. After all, even before Tintin and co. showed up, he was the brother to the Bird brothers, but after they were gone, he still worked and lived there, so it seems to me that Nestor is practically a serf, tied to the land and devoted to his profession.
Similarly, Irma is tied to Madame Castafiore, being both her maid and her confidante, so for her to marry would be a disaster to Castafiore, and she would probably become extremely upset. Although they have similar roles, the marriage of Nestor and Irma would not work out too well.

Nestor and Irma?? Only if Nestor fought his way through Wagner!

It has to be Igor and Irma, surely? Any hint of interest between Irma and Nestor is a ploy that the coquettish maid uses to make Wagner jealous!

I don't know about Wagner there. He seems to be afraid of everyone, including Irma!

Once he got over his gambling problems he might have 'become a man' though.

Perhaps, but he really does seem to be very timid.

Nestor reminds me of the butler in The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins. He was exactly like Nestor in temperament, and he had a shrewish wife, who later died. Any comments?

I just realised what a great part Nestor plays in the Tintin books. He has some great lines and is involved in some great frames, like in "Seven Crystal Balls", when he does acrobatics with the drinks tray, only to have Snowy jump over him so all the glasses drop on the floor.

Never really liked Irma, though she isn't a main character, but it was great when she threw a fit after being accused of stealing the gold scissors - funny stuff beating up the Thom(p)sons!
