Did anybody else not grow up with Tintin?

Hello, I'm new here, and I consider myself a huge fan of Tintin.
However, unlike most people, I had never heard of Tintin when I was a child.
I first discovered Tintin about a year ago when I heard that Spielberg was planning to direct a film based on it.
So, I purchased some of the stories and immediately fell in love with the sophisticated satire and adventure elements.
It reminded me very much of the Indiana Jones franchise.
I was extremely surprised at the stories' ability to appeal to adults without resorting to melodrama.

So, are there any other Tintin fans who, like myself, had never heard of Tintin when they were children?

I'm not one, but I had been quite ignorant about Tintin for most of my life.

I knew vaguely about Tintin because my brothers and I sometimes watched the show. I had a bit of a crush on him because he was cute. So yes, I knew about him throughout childhood but in all honesty I can't say I grew up with him like other fans did.

Everyone in Belgium did, so no difference for me.

I know that Steven Spielberg first discovered Tintin after Raiders was released. Which would have made him about 34 years old.
But beyond that, I haven't heard of anyone else who discovered the books as an adult.

I've known Tintin ever since I can remember, but my grand father (a big Tintin fan), must have discovered the series as an adult, considering he was English and the books weren't translated into English until the late 50s.
