The Tintin movie and value of memorabilia

Folks,
I wanted to pick your thoughts on this. Do you think once the movie comes out the value of the collectibles would go up. I seriously think that it would go down...I remember when the first LOTR came out the collectibles were a premium. When the last movie came out they were available cheaply at Wal-Mart. But of course this is assuming the Tintin movie would be a success, which we can not be sure off...But do any of our French language readers know if the value of the Asterix collectibles went down when the movies came out in France (They are significantly cheaper in France when compared to Tintin)...

Your thoughts gentlemen...

If your talking about memorabilia from the movie that's coming out soon my opinion would be - "maybe?".
I have a few bits from the first LOTR, like a chess set that really is worth less than what it was purchased for, but I know that a lot of the Star Wars original memorabilia goes for quite a lot sometimes. I hope the merchandising is done right.
But the book sales will soar. If there is also a book of the movie coming out in the same style as a regular album, that would be worth keeping hold off.
The Blue Oranges and Golden Fleece books are always on eBay, sometimes going for £250.

One thing is certain: the price of existing Tintin-related material (from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s) will continue to rise.

An investment in "old" collectibles is therefore far more likely to yield a return.

Well, I know I will definitely be very wary of any sort of "Limited edition" stuff, as it probably won't be very "limited" at all, and end up being very worthless.

Yea it's like on ebay sometimes people will list a Tintin book as rare bearing in mind it a reprint from 2007.With buying collectable stuff always know you make sure what your doing or maybe consult someone on here if it's Tintin related.
