I personally feel that Tintin's voice in the English version, albeit with the accent and a little kiddish, captures the friendly persona of Tintin more so than his voice in the French version.

Tintin's voice was annoying at first, but I've gotten used to it. Snowy's angel and demon really, really annoy me, which is fine, because they only show up in Tibet. I can see why people might hate the Tompsons' accents, but I'm so used to them now! In fact when I read the comics, it's the voices from the series that I can hear in my head. I think they could have done much, much worse.

I just love the voices on the English dub.
I hate the "Popeye" accent of Haddock, and the over-American voice of Tintin, in Lake of Sharks.

I'm not that familiar with the Canadian accent everyone says he has in the Nevala cartoons. Their voices are in my head when I read the Tintin books.

Resurrecting this thread...

I've been watching a few of the Nelvana stories, which I'm not as familiar with as I am the books. I particularly wanted to see Picaros as I read the book again recently (interesting that Tintin wears plus-fours and goes to San Theodoras in the cartoon, but that's for another discussion...). Unfortunately, I found Alcazar's voice quite annoying. Very raspy and grating, like somebody over-mimicking a stereotype of a Mexican. Not at all like he sounds in my head! And he has a lot of dialogue in Picaros, I think more than his other appearances.

Other voices are ok, not perfect for many of the reasons stated above. I think Calculus is my favourite voice of the main cast, as it's fairly near to how I imagine him sounding. But all of the voices are exaggerated, as is common with cartoons. Tintin has often been over-caricatured, but the Nelvanas are probably the closest to the books. I do think they have dated, they're over thirty years old now.
