Tintin and the Lost Moment

Hi there,

Perhaps someone here can solve this mystery. Follow the link here to an image that shows a 'lost moment' in the lives of Tintin, Snowy, and Captain Haddock!

For a while now it's been on my mind. Am I correct in thinking that that scene never actually occurs in any of the various adaptations of Tintin's Peruvian Adventure? Was this a segment Herge developed and than decided against using?

Cheers,

You're right, the scene never actually occurs. The drawing to the left was used as cover for the first Tintin-magazine ever, and I guess Hergé just chose a dramatic view to re-start the on-going Tintin-episode (Crystal Balls/Prisoners of the Sun) after WW2, something that would live up to the title Temple of the Sun.
The other drawing, clearly based on the first, was made in connection with the animated motion picture based on "Prisoners of the Sun". It also appeared on the cover of the French soundtrack album of the film.
