Explorers on the Moon: Tintin crying for Haddock

Hi All,

Have read your forums with great interest and here goes my 1st post (deep breath!):

Everyone is in agreement that Tintin has cried in the books for Chang and Wang (Lotus), Chang (Tibet) and Snowy (Flight 714).
However I would like to pose a question for debate for you to ponder.

It is my belief that Tintin cried for Haddock at the end of the Explorers book when the Captain is on the stretcher in a medic mask.
We don't see Tintin's face at this point as he is directly facing the Captain however I believe his previous expressions in the other frames as well as his vocal tone all make me firmly convinced that he is indeed crying at this point in time.

Of course the Captain recovers quickly (at the mention of whiskey!) and everyone rejoices but I really think tears were shed at this point in time.

With the other instances of Tintin crying we only briefly see him doing this then he recovers quickly. They don't last for many frames.
Just because we don't directly see him shedding tears with Haddock does not mean it did not happen.

I think there was enough circumstantial evidence to suggest it happened given the circumstances and events at this point in time.

Who agrees?

Cheers,

Rod

I think it is indeed very likely that Tintin shed a few tears for his old friend. After all, they had been through so much together, and it really would have been tragic for the captain to die of suffocation, with nothing they could do about it, within reach of home.
Welcome to Tintinologist, by the way.

That's really good reasoning! Tintin also cries for Snowy three times as well.

Personally I disagree, but I respect your reasoning. The impression I got was that he hasn't had time to fully process the situation and he's in despair/anxiety rather than futile sadness at that point.
